Watch anytime, and upload your finished work for critique. Fernando Freitas from the Academy of Realist Art shows you how to practice the principles of measurement, proportion, value and form to build your drawing skills. Now you can learn the training techniques of the masters in this easy-to-follow instructional video workshop from the comfort of your home! The videos will give you close up demonstration showing the entire process step by step, including the drawing. For the first time, artist and instructor Fernando Freitas of the internationally acclaimed Academy of Realist Art, shares his proven step-by-step instruction technique that has helped artists of all levels of experience master their drawing skills. The Charles Bargue Drawing workshop was developed and widely used in the mid 19th century as a foundation exercise for fine art training. Throughout the years it has been used by many great masters as an essential process in understanding the principles of shape, proportion, value and form. These drawings are more than just exercises; they form a system that prepares students  to excel in painting  and other artistic pursuits, all of which require the ability to build  constructs,  identify  shapes, understand tonal value  ranges,  master complex lighting, and render forms.  In addition, despite the fact that during the Bargue course one is working in monochrome, the lessons learned through this process can help you develop an eye for seeing the properties of color. The practicalities of the Bargue approach have a strong bearing on a range of modern  disciplines, from animation and visual effects to gaming and tattoo artistry. This Workshop is for anyone interested in developing their drawing skills. Whether you are a beginner or advanced student, amateur or professional artist, the results will be beyond your expectations.

Bargue Method
The Bargue article which explains the process and also why doing the Bargues can improve an artists ability to "see" the forms better.
Bargue Agrippa Handouts
A 25 page document covering topics such as form and shapes, light and shadow and also a high resolution copy of the Agrippa Bargue plate.
The Value Strip
I came out of this with a heightened attention to detail, and practical knowledge of how to make a graphite drawing to a high degree of finish – in stages. I can see how doing more of these copies would improve the accuracy of my drawing.
